How The UK Celebrates St. Patrick’s Day

We all know that the Irish know how to party and the annual St. Patrick’s Day celebrations confirm that. Friday 18th March marks St. Paddy’s Day, and not that we all need another excuse to drink Guinness but there are tons of events happening across the UK to celebrate. So don all of your green clothing, head down to your nearest bar and prepare for nothing but great craic.




St. Patrick’s Day Festival in Trafalgar Sq

On Sunday 19th March, the annual St Paddy’s Day festival comes to Trafalgar Square complete with loads of Irish celebrations across the city. Kick the day off by watching the parade in Trafalgar Square and then head to Camden where you can find live music performances from the likes of Kila and MOXIE, delicious Irish food and loads of family activities there and around the city.

St. Patrick’s Day Celebrations at Boxpark

Head over to Boxpark Shoreditch after work on Friday for a right Irish knees up. You can expect a beer pong tournament hosted by Porky’s BBQ, DJ Siggy Smalls on the decks and even free cans of whiskey and ginger ale from Jameson Whiskey. An to top it off, it’s all free! Sounds decent to us.

St Patricks Day at the Frog and Bucket

Get your jollies on St. Paddy’s Day at Manchester’s favourite comedy club, Frog and Bucket. On Friday they’ve got MC Mickey Bartlett, Steve Harris, Dan Nightingale and Tom Stade up on the bill, and with reserved tables for you and your pals, a menu of delicious food and an after-party – you’re guaranteed a good time.

The Night & Day Showcase

Head to the Night & Day Cafe on Oldham Street where some of the biggest names of music played in the early days of their careers for their Friday night showcase. This Friday catch local artists Caroline, Lovechild, Ilser and Scuttlers up on the bill.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Expecting to be bigger and better than ever before, this year’s second St. Paddy’s Day parade will be taking place this Friday in Liverpool city centre. Starting from Great Orford Street at the Old Irish Centre and will eventually go through the city and end up at the Queen Victoria monument at Derby Square.

Bongo’s Bingo Liverpool

Described as “The bastard child of traditional bingo and a techno rave”, Bongo’s Bingo is not one to take your nana to. Presented by your favourite Irish girlband, B*witched and complete with loads of cash prizes, this St. Patrick’s Day special is one not to be missed.

George Donaldson’s St. Patrick’s Weekend

Situated in the heart of Glasgow, Jinty McGuinty’s is your typical Irish pub with it’s traditional layout, fireplace and dark wood. They’ve got loads of live music on, the Six Nations on show, a heated pub garden and nothing but the best tasting Guinness – so you know St. Paddy’s Day will be good there.

Glasgow St. Patrick’s Festival

This year there’s a pretty impressive programme of events happening in Glasgow for St. Patrick’s Day. You can watch Irish films for free, take the kids down to the family fun day and even chow down at the Festival Gala Dinner Dance amongst loads of other things.
