Party Hard, Give Generously: The Best Christmas Charity Events
It’s offically the season of giving. And the season of excessive partying. So why not combine the two this December and spend your hard-earned cash on experiences that not only create lasting memories for you but also help raise money for those less fortunate. There’s a whole string of Christmas charity events happening in London that promise a better night out than most. And all without the shake of a charity box in sight. Party hard, give generously.
Hosted by East London’s independent arts venue Rich Mix, head down for an evening of music, comedy, film, poetry and even a live celebrity auction with all proceeds going to the Refugee Info Bus – a new charity providing internet access, legal rights education and empowerment to refugees through technology. The money from this particular event will go to getting WiFi for refugees in Greece so they can contact their families. There will be music from Dan Gillespie and The Feeling and some of the celebs up for auction include Bat for Lashes and David Schwimmer.

Cook for Syria
#CookForSyria is a nationwide initiative to raise money in aid of UNICEF’s Syria Relief Fund. The initiative, curated by Clerkenwell Boy and SUITCASE Magazine, encourages everyone to cook at home and raise money for the cause by participating in one of the events. These include organising a charity bake sale, attending one of their brunch supper clubs, or paying a visit to one of the restaurants participating in creating a Syrian inspired dish and donating £2 of the sales to the charity.

Coming to Electric Brixton on the 8th and 15th December, Help Refugees UK is bringing together some of the biggest names in British dance music for a series of unique events in aid of the crisis. You can expect the likes of Faithless, Eats Everything, Daphni, Skream and loads more. And for £15 a ticket and a good cause, you can’t go wrong.
Fat Macy’s is a newly launched supper club that showcases the culinary talents of young Londoners living in hostel accommodation, and overcomes the cycle of homelessness by allowing the profits to go into a housing deposit scheme for those who run it. The supper clubs are curated, designed and cooked by their guest chefs, with a drink on arrival. Throughout December you’ll get to listen to their stories, meet some new people and eat some damn good food. Find out more about the supper clubs right here.
