How to Celebrate Australia Day in London
G’day mates. The 26th January will see Australia Day being celebrated by REVLers across the globe and London will be no exception – but what is Australia Day exactly? It is the national holiday of the country, marking the arrival of British settlers in 1788 and raising of the Union Jack at Sydney Cove by commander Captain Phillip. Nowadays, the nation and Australians around the world come together to celebrate their nationality and everything that’s great about Australia.
Here are a few ways that you can celebrate Straya Day in London:
Pop down to The National Gallery after work on Friday, and dream of summer in the middle of winter with a night inspired by Australia’s Impressionists. The gallery will be open till 9pm with a whole host of special events including Painting on the Portico, creating your own textile landscape with the London Craft Club and learning new drawing skills.
